Geography of Australia
Australia is located south east of Asia and Africa. On the east side of Australia is the Pacific Ocean and on the west is the Indian Ocean. The capital city of Australia is Canberra. Some of the well-known cities include: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, and New Castle.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the population of Australia currently is 22,620,600. Most of the people live on the northeast or southwest coasts because central Australia, commonly known as the outback, is all desert and industry has not yet developed in these regions due to lack of immediate resources.
Australia has many different time zones. Western Australia is AWST, Northern Territory is ACST, South Australia s ACDT, Queensland is AEST, and New South Whales and Victoria are AEDT.
Australia consists of equatorial, tropical, subtropical, desert, grassland, and temperate climates. Australia also consists vast desert and grassland but becomes more tropical towards the surroundings to the ocean. Australia is known worldwide as having some of the most beautiful beaches (Deserts, 2010).

Weather in Australia is the complete opposite of weather in the United States. Summer in Australia occurs from December through February, autumn occurs between March through May, winter occurs between June through August, and spring occurs between Septembers through November.
Australian weather remains hot and dry in the summers temperatures often are between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit and in the winter temperatures are often between 64-73 degrees Fahrenheit. Sow can fall in the mountainous areas of Victoria, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, and Tasmania (Armidale Weather Statistics, 2011).
